With Sam Ainsley, Helena Almeida, Joan Jonas, Ana Jotta, Michael Kidner, Běla Kolářová and Lygia Pape
With: Alasdair Gray
With the focus of survey shows predominantly on emergent artists, what can we learn from a later generation of contemporary visual artists? ‘Live Your Questions Now’ is a survey exhibition of Scottish, UK and international contemporary artists over 60 years old. The exhibition includes Sam Ainsley (UK), Alasdair Gray (UK), Joan Jonas (USA), Ana Jotta (Portugal), Michael Kidner (UK), Běla Kolářová (Czech Republic), Helena Almeida (Portugal) and Lygia Pape (Brazil).
The exhibition title is inspired by a quote from Rainer Maria Rilke’s ‘Letters to a young poet’ (1934):
“Live the questions now. Perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answer.”
